Onsite Engraving, Etching & Sculpture

Hudson Valley Memorial Group uses a variety of methods to add lettering or design elements to a new or previously existing memorial. Our artisans are also able to create legacy sculptures designed to surround your loved one’s resting place with fine art.

Lettering and Engraving

Each monument we create comes with lettering and inscriptions. For assistance in creating your own epitaph, please start by reading our Epitaph Help page, designed to offer helpful suggestions on an important task. Should you need extra assistance, we are here to help you compose the inscription and design that best fits your loved one.

At Hudson Valley Memorial Group, the letters and designs we carve are subject to a very high standard of quality and precision. The depth of each letter or component is measured throughout the carving process to ensure optimum legibility. Then, each monument is personally inspected for depth and consistency of cut before it comes out of the carving room.

Please be aware that depending upon the cemetery you choose, there may be additional parameters regarding engraving. Because we have long-standing relationships with the area’s cemeteries, we are pleased to be able to provide you with the necessary information.

You may also find helpful information on our Cemetery Information page or our Funeral Home and Cemetery Selection page.

Etching

Etchings are popular memorial options for those who would like to incorporate a meaningful scene into their memorial.

We create etchings using traditional hand etching techniques as well as precision laser technology, sometimes in combination.

If you have a favorite image of your loved one that you would like to include on the memorial headstone, we can incorporate it artfully. In fact, essentially any scene that you can imagine can be etched into the stone for an eternal remembrance. Some people even wish to incorporate a second image into the headstone, for example a favorite pet.

For inspiration, please view our design gallery here and select the etchings filter. Although you are not limited by what you see here, the widely varied creations may spark an idea for your loved one’s memorial.

Sculpture Work

A third type of engraving is sculpture, which utilizes a variety of materials including bronze, marble and granite. We create works of art in bas-relief, sculpture in the round and 3D sculpture.

Hudson Valley Memorial Group is fully capable of producing stand-alone statuary of the highest quality. Each sculpture is created by our talented artisans by hand and each is considered a work of art meant to honor the memory of your loved one.

Because we also complete high complexity statuary commissions for civic organizations, parks and other public spaces, we are well-versed in this area and at your service to understand your vision for sculpture at your loved one’s place of rest.

Mausoleum

I think I may be the first person in line for a customer to come in contact with.  The first person who greets them or welcomes them… I think that just letting people talk about their deceased loved ones, or answering any of their questions about the process gives me satisfaction… Even if all I did was listen or guide them in the right direction it means a lot.
